Production Packaging Associate

Position overview

The Production Associate is responsible for working on the food production line. They perform a variety of duties including loading ingredients into industrial cooking equipment, monitoring the machinery during cooking, mixing, and packaging processes to ensure our product quality standards are being met.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
• Load raw ingredients into the cooking machine following company standards and formulations
• Program equipment to operate according to company and formulation standards and make changes as required
• Monitor food cooking machines and adjust the controls as necessary
• React to alarms or malfunctions of the equipment and operate the shut-off switch when necessary
• Remove finished product from production line and push batches to the next step of process for packaging
• Verify that each finished item meets the quality standards of the company by observing the size, and shape of each item
• Sanitize all materials and machinery parts at the end of each shift and clean the work space in accordance with company cleanliness standards


REQUIRED EDUCATION & WORK EXPERIENCE
• High school graduation or GED required
• Ability to understand and follow all safety and operating procedures in food production
• Knowledge of basic math as well as English reading and writing skills
• Ability to read instructions and recipes to assemble ingredients
• Experience in food production or industrial kitchen is preferred
• Knowledge of quality assurance practices is an asset
• Ability to work shift work in a 24/7 production environment

Must have proof of eligibility to work in Canada

This position requires the ability to:
Stand, or walk for an extended period
Stoop, reach, kneel or crouch
Lift objects weighing up to 50 lbs

Maintenance Technician

REPORTING TO: Maintenance Manager

SALARY: Compensation commensurate with education and experience

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Permanent - Full Time

POSITION DESCRIPTION

 

Island Abbey Food Sciences Ltd. is an award-winning specialty food and natural health products manufacturer located in Charlottetown, PEI. Our team is growing, and we want to hear from you if you are an experienced Maintenance Technician in a manufacturing environment.

The Maintenance Technician is responsible for maintaining equipment and facilities in a continuous operations manufacturing environment.

 

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Maintain the equipment and facilities through a structured Preventative Maintenance Program based on Total Productive Maintenance procedures
  • Troubleshoot and repair production equipment and utilities
  • Support the changeover of production equipment and training of equipment operators
  • Operate in a GMP (Good Manufacturing Practices) environment around consumable products
  • Maintain inventory of repair equipment and supplies
  • Respond quickly in the event of an emergency, notify appropriate personnel and follow safety protocol
  • Perform minor building, HVAC, plumbing, electrical and painting repairs as necessary
  • Participate in Continuous Improvement programs and support the deployment to each department
  • Make recommendations and execute the improvement of processes and policies in each rotation
  • Perform other maintenance duties as requested

Requirements

  • Highschool graduation or GED required, 2-year related diploma preferred
  • At least 5 years’ experience in equipment repair, maintenance and troubleshooting in a manufacturing environment, food manufacturing preferred
  • Knowledge of mechanical equipment, electromechanical or controls experience preferred
  • Knowledge of equipment, tools and maintenance practices
